BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Swapnadas Gupta said in an article in an English newspaper today that there are other reasons behind the resentment of Muslims. Modi is annoyed with the government for not providing strong leadership.

Gupta says one of the calculations behind the protests by Muslims over Nupur Sharma's remarks is that the government could be pushed to the backfoot this time as it did in 2019-20 due to protests against the CAA law.

Swapna Das Gupta further said that one of the reasons behind the violent protests of the Muslims was the government's move to implement the Common Civil Code and the review of the Worship Act of 1991. .

He says that in the Nupur Sharma controversy, Islamic countries have given political and diplomatic strength to the Muslims of the country and when such a situation arises, there is no room for logical arguments. The same situation was created during the cartoons made in Denmark.
