The Bangladesh Navy took 135 Indian fishermen into custody

The Bangladesh Navy has detained 135 Indian fishermen on charges of illegally entering its coastal area. In addition, 8 fishing trawlers have also been seized from the Bay of Bengal. It is learned that the Indian fishermen were taken into custody by the Navy personnel while patrolling the seas.

Goods worth Rs 3.80 crore were seized

Bagerhat district police media cell officer SM Ashraful Alam gave details about this. He said 68 Indian fishermen were earlier taken into custody along with four trawlers at the time when his navy Banauja Pratya and Ali Haider set out to patrol the seas. The navy then took 67 more fishermen into custody along with 4 other trawlers and seized all the trawlers. The market value of the seized goods, including fish, is Rs 3.80 crore.

According to the in-charge of Mongla police station, a report has been lodged alleging fishing by illegally entering the waters of Bangladesh. All the fishermen have been sent to the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bagerhat.

Breeding time of fish

According to a notification, the government has imposed a ban on fishing in the sea for a total of 65 days between May 20 and July 23 due to the breeding season of marine fish. Navy ships and marine patrol aircraft are constantly monitoring the compliance.
