The 39-year-old woman has given birth to 44 children, find out why doctors refused to take birth control pills.

Mary Nabteji, known as Africa's most fertile woman, is 39 years old but has given birth to 44 children. According to a source, doctors have placed checks in her womb so that she cannot give birth to other children.

Mary's marriage took place only when she was 12 years old. 1 year later she gave birth to twins. She has since given birth to twins five times, three three times and four four times. This condition is caused by the fact that Mary's ovary is much larger than normal and more than one seed is released and fertilized.

Doctors refused to take the contraceptive pill to the woman as her ovaries were too large as doing so would adversely affect her health. The average female fertility rate in Uganda is 5.6. Women with 10 to 12 children meet many but 44 children is the biggest world record. Mary's husband left her three years ago.

This woman is living in poverty with 38 surviving children. Shortly after birth, 3 babies died. He has no means of livelihood. He lives in a coffee-growing colony 31 km from Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Even the children do not fit into the small open house he lives in. He fills his own and his children's stomachs by doing casual labor. Many help her financially but miss out on having a family as big as a kindergarten class.
