Schools closed in Sri Lanka to save fuel, ordering people to work from home

The economic crisis in Sri Lanka is not taking the name of ending. The Sri Lankan army is giving tokens to people to buy petrol at petrol pumps as there is a severe shortage of fuel in Sri Lanka. Schools have been closed to save fuel and people have been instructed to work from home.

With a population of 4.5 crore, Sri Lanka's foreign exchange reserves have reached record lows.Sri Lanka does not have a foreign exchange to importgrain , medicine and fuel.

"I've been standing in line for the last four days," said WD Shelt, a 6-year-old auto rickshaw driver. These four days I did not sleep and did not eat properly.

“We can’t earn, we can’t feed our family,” Shelton added. A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is likely to visit Sri Lanka soon to provide a આ 3 billion bailout.

Power and Energy Minister Kanchna Vijsekar said the stock had 5,000 tonnes of petrol and 5,000 tonnes of diesel but the concern was that no new shipments would arrive. The government has asked employees to work from home until further notice. Schools in and around Colombo have been closed.
