Presidential Election 2022: NCP chief Sharad Pawar to meet Sonia Gandhi

Mumbai, Ta. Saturday 11 June 2022

Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections. However, no formal statement has been made on the issue. Several names are being discussed in the presidential race. All eyes are on NCP leader and former Union Minister Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi's upcoming visit to Delhi. The meeting of the two leaders will discuss the name of the candidate for the presidential election. The name can also be finalized if all goes well.

While talking to reporters on the results of the Maharashtra Rajya Sabha elections, Sharad Pawar was asked about the presidential election. "I have not had any conversation with Sonia Gandhi yet," Pawar said. I am going to Delhi tomorrow. Then the issue will be discussed. "I think we will all sit down and discuss this," he said. The meeting between Pawar and the Congress chief will discuss the name of the joint opposition candidate.

It is to be mentioned that there are many contenders for the presidency from the Opposition. Nitish Kumar, Sharad Pawar, Telangana CM Chandrasekhar Rao could be candidates. However, Nitish Kumar's name is at the forefront. There is also a lot of speculation about who will be the candidate from the BJP. This time, the BJP is likely to field a tribal face as its candidate for the presidency or give a chance to a woman.
