NHAI records Guinness Book of World Records for covering 75 km in just 105 hours


- A total of 36,634 metric tons of material was used for road construction

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) set a new world record on Tuesday. NHAI has set a new world record by building a 75 km long bituminous concrete road in just 105 hours. The record was completed in a record time of 105 hours and 33 minutes on the road between Amravati and Akola in Maharashtra.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari gave this information through Twitter. He also posted a Guinness World Record certificate in the tweet. "This is a proud moment for the country," he wrote in a video message.

What said in the video message

Gadkari accused NHAI and Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd. of setting a world record through video message. Congratulations to all the Engineers, Contractors, Consultants and Workers of the Ltd. who have successfully assisted in breaking this World Record. He said that on NH-53 between Amravati and Akola districts, a record has been set for laying bituminous concrete in single lanes up to 75 km in 105 hours and 33 minutes.

Work began on June 3

Gadkari said work on the 75 km single-lane bituminous concrete road started at 7:27 am on June 3, 2022 and was completed at 5 pm on June 7. He further said that a total of 36,634 metric tonnes of material was used for the construction of the road. The project was completed by 720 workers, including a team of consultants. He worked day and night to accomplish this task.
