Know, the ice in the ocean floor catches fire instantly, billions of tons of energy have been stored

Research is underway to create an energy source as the ice from the deepest seas of the ocean catches fire immediately. Scientists have shifted their focus from oil wells, coal and gas to sea ice. This source of energy is called methane hydrate. Billions of tons of methane gas are trapped in the oceans, most of which are hidden in ice particles due to excessive pressure and low temperatures.

Matching this ice with a match burns methane gas. Scientists in Japan and the United States have also extracted some of this type of ice from the Atlantic Ocean. Methane produces less carbon compared to crude and coal. However, the limitation of methane is that it is a greenhouse in itself, which is 20 times more harmful than carbon dioxide.

In addition, if there is a mistake in the process of extracting it from the abyss, it can disrupt the Earth's climate. Methane gas can explode as it emerges from the ice. Researchers therefore focus on further research on the subject rather than on methane hydrate.

Commercial use of methane is also expensive compared to oil and gas. The biggest challenge is the technique of reaching it at a depth of thousands of meters. Methane gas is thought to be abundant in the ice caps of countries such as Russia and Canada. However, environmentalists believe that ice is a natural protective covering of the earth, so opening it up could have serious consequences.
