Hull-Harini-Amavasya is of special importance to farmers: Mata Annapurna and Hull are worshiped

New Delhi: This month of Jeth will be celebrated on June 2 and 3 for two days. Shraddha Amavasya on 9th June and Snan-Dan on Wednesday 9th June are important. This Amavasya (Amas) is considered very auspicious by the farmers. It is called 'Hal-Harini-Amavasya'. With this the feast of the new season is celebrated. Sowing starts from this day. On this day Lord Vishnu, Mother Lakshmiji, Lord Shankar and Mother Annapurna are worshiped.

Apart from this, oxen, plows and other farming implements are also worshiped.

It is believed that worshiping gods and goddesses brings happiness and prosperity, and increases the yield of crops. On the day of this new moon the farmers first worship at home. On this day the sellers of farm implements decorate their shops.

On this day the farmers no longer attach the oxen but leave them for the charkha. This Hul-Harini-Amavasya comes before the monsoon. On this day the farmers pray to God for a good harvest. According to astrologers, this time the lunar month starts at 4-5 minutes after sunrise. Which continues till 8-9 in the morning on the 9th day.

Shanidev is also worshiped this month. Shanidev is anointed with sesame oil and his lamp is lit.
