Google pays 118 million for pay scales

Google, the world's largest tech giant, has agreed to settle a long-running lawsuit over gender discrimination and equal pay. Google was fined $ 118 (approximately Rs 923 crore) for conducting gender discrimination with 15,500 female employees. Google has agreed to pay 11 118 million after a lawsuit was filed against women for paying less than men.

Four women filed a lawsuit against the company in 2017 alleging that they were being paid less than men. Which was a violation of the California Equal Pay Act. Not only that, in the complaint against Google, it was said that women are employed in a low salary package, due to which women get less salary and bonus as compared to men.

The four women include former Google employees Kelly Ellis, Holly Pease, Kelly Visuri and Heidi Lamar. As many as 15,500 female employees of Google have been involved in the case since 2013 after receiving class action status. Google has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating "Similar, baseless allegations concerning Google have been made more than once.

The judge hearing the entire case said that the women should be paid their dues by June 21. This case has been going on for the last 5 years. This is not the first time such a case has been registered against Google. Earlier, a woman engineer had filed a case against the company for giving low salary. That's why Google had to settle for 2.5 2.5 million.
