Gold biscuits were sent to CM in biryani box: Accused in smuggling case

New Delhi, June 8, 2022, Wednesday

The gold smuggling case sparked controversy in Kerala ahead of last year's assembly elections.

A new revelation has now emerged in this case. The main accused in the case is Swapna Suresh, CM of Kerala. Vijayan, his family members and some bureaucrats are facing serious charges.

That is to say, when Vijay visited Dubai in 2016, a large box of biryani was packed with gold biscuits and sent to the CM's residence.

Meanwhile, P. Vijay has denied the allegations, saying that there is no truth in it. Allegations are being made against my government as part of a political agenda.

Swapna has been granted bail after spending 16 months in jail in a smuggling case. He says the ED did not force him to name the CM. Not only Vijayan but his wife Kamala, daughter Veena, former secretary Ravindran, former minister KT Jalil and Former IAS officer Nilini Netto was also involved in smuggling gold through political channels.

"I was approached by bureaucrats Shivshankar when Vijayan went to Dubai in 2016," he said. At the time, a diplomat from the UAE's consulate was sent to Dubai. When the bag was scanned at the commercial embassy at that time, it was found that it contained foreign currency money and apart from that how many times gold biscuits in large boxes of biryani were sent to the CM's house through the commercial embassy vehicles as per Shivshankar's instructions.

BJP and Congress have demanded the resignation of the CM following Swapna's allegations.
