Statues of gods and goddesses were vandalized in a Hindu temple in Karachi, Pakistan. The idols of gods and goddesses were vandalized at the Shri Mari Mata Mandir in Korangi area of ​​Karachi on Wednesday, a police official said. The incident has alarmed the Hindu community in Karachi and especially in the Korangi area where police have been deployed to prevent such incidents.

A local Hindu resident of the area said that six to eight people on bikes attacked the temple. He further added that he did not know who carried out the attack and why.

Korangi's station in-charge Farooq Sanjarani said five to six unidentified persons had entered the temple and vandalized it and fled. He said a case was being registered against the strangers who attacked the temple.

There have been attacks in Pakistan before

It may be mentioned that Hindu temples in Pakistan have been targeted by mobs many times in the past as well. In October, a historic temple on the banks of the Indus River at Kotri was targeted by unknown individuals. A case was registered against unknown persons at Kotri police station in this regard.


75 lakh Hindus in Pakistan

According to official figures from Pakistan, there are 7.5 million Hindus living there. However, according to the Hindu community, there are more than 9 million Hindus in Pakistan. Most of the Hindu population of Pakistan is settled in Sindh province.
