Controversial comment: Dutch MP landed in support of Pakistani-origin journalist Nupur Sharma

New Delhi, June 8, 2022, Wednesday

Nupur Sharma, the BJP's suspended spokesperson who made controversial remarks on the Prophet Mohammad, has come under fire from some in the Gulf.

Taha Siddiqui, a journalist of Pakistani origin, said that instead of attacking Nupur Sharma, Muslim leaders should clarify what was in fact.

"It is ridiculous that Arab and Islamic countries have lashed out at Nupur Sharma," said Dutch MP Gert Wilders. India should not apologize ... India should defend Nupur Sharma without succumbing to threats and pressure.

Pakistani-origin writer Tariq Fateh has also said that Nupur Sharma is being threatened. The police should protect them.

It may be mentioned that Nupur Sharma made catastrophic remarks in a debate on TV and this controversy has been going on ever since. As many as 10 countries have protested against the remarks. The BJP has suspended Nupur Sharma from the party following the controversy.
