Udaipur: A case of murder of a tailor in broad daylight in Udaipur, a popular tourist destination in Rajasthan, is witnessing communal tensions. Appealing to the people for peace in the incident, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has ordered more police presence in the city.
The city has announced a ban on internet services as video of the tailor's murder is being widely circulated on social media and WhatsApp. Businesses and businesses have been shut down in some areas of the city due to the tense situation.
A tailor named Kanaiyalal was killed today after a heated debate between Hindus and Muslims on social media over each other's religions. Sources said the tailor was receiving threats from the Muslim community after Kanaya made a video supporting Nupur Sharma's controversial statement and went viral.
According to police sources, Rias and another person entered Kanaya's shop today. Riaz then attacked the tailor with a sharp weapon while another recorded a video of the incident on his mobile phone. The two went viral on social media soon after the incident.
