Bridge collapses at inauguration, 'Mayor' with wife

- The foot bridge, made of wooden planks and chains, revolted from being overweight

A very shocking incident has taken place in Cuernivaca, Mexico. The tragedy happened just as the city's mayor was inaugurating a foot bridge over a river. The bridge, made of wooden boards, i.e. wooden planks and metal chains, was broken at the inauguration. As a result, about 2 dozen people, including the mayor, fell into a ditch below.

A video of the whole incident also went viral in which it can be seen that the accident was caused by the wooden planks being detached from the chain. This caused city council members and other local officials to fall on rocks 3 meters (10 feet) below.

The governor of Morelos state said the mayor, his wife, several officials and reporters were trapped in the ditch. Several of them sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

The mayor was also injured in the crash and was taken to hospital. He sustained minor injuries. The accident was reported to have been caused by overweight people as more people than capacity had gathered on the bridge.

A video of the incident has also surfaced in which several people are seen falling into a ditch. An operation was then launched to get them all out.
