CBI's credibility eroded: Chief Justice N.V. Ramanna's knock

Organized by CBI d. P. Under the Kohli Memorial Lecture Series, Chief Justice N.V. Ramanna spoke on democracy and the role and duties of investigative agencies. In it, he spoke about the working methods and image of the CBI and the police.
During his speech, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court NV Ramanna slammed the CBI and said that the credibility of the CBI has been eroded among the people. The workings of the CBI have come under scrutiny over time. People have become skeptical about the CBI probe. In some cases, the actions and inaction of the CBI have been questioned. He said that when it comes to CBI, people initially had a lot of faith in it. The demand for CBI probe was high in the judiciary. Plenty of requests were coming. Because at that time CBI was synonymous with impartiality and independence, but later as the working method changed and political influence increased, the credibility of CBI decreased.
He recommended that the various investigative agencies be brought under one umbrella and become an independent investigative body. If all the agencies including CBI, ED, SFIO, NIA work under the auspices of a single independent and transparent body, the credibility of the investigating agencies in the country will increase.
He also lashed out at the police department, saying that people were afraid to go to the Indian police for help. People are disappointed with the police. The police department, which has been accused of corruption, should make efforts to improve its image. Factors such as close relationship with politicians, lack of neutrality, corruption are obstacles to improving the image of the police.
Police officers frequently complain to the judiciary that they are harassed after a change of power. This situation should change. When you love power you have to suffer the consequences. Honest police officers in the police department find it difficult to survive in many cases if the police officers remain neutral. Yet it is so determined that if you live with morality and truthfulness there will be no obstacle in your duty.
