Vice-Governor Anil Baijal has rejected the Delhi government's proposal to lift the weekend curfew from the national capital.
This means that the weekend curfew will continue on Saturday and Sunday in the capital and all private offices will be functioning with 50 per cent staff. The Odd Even system will also continue to open shops in the markets.
The lieutenant governor says it is still necessary to monitor Corona's condition in the capital for a few more days.
In Delhi, the lieutenant governor is the chairman of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority and the weekend curfew will not be lifted in Delhi without his approval.
Earlier, the Delhi government had imposed a weekend curfew from 10 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday.
Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisoyadio said the Delhi government has sent a proposal to the lieutenant governor to lift the weekend curfew and withdraw the decision to open shops in the markets with the Odd Even system now that corona cases have been reduced in Delhi.
