The Federation of Doctors demanded the immediate start of Knit-PG counseling

The Federation of Doctors has filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking immediate start of Knit-PG counseling. The federation also told the apex court that a change in the criteria for OBC and EWS reservations at the end of the process would further delay the final selection.

The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) estimates that 5,000 candidates are selected each year through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (PG). The federation further said that second and third year doctors are having to treat patients as no junior doctors have been involved this year.

Due to this situation, the second and third year doctors have to work 40 hours a week and some of them have become Corona positive. The workload on doctors has increased which is affecting the entire healthcare system.

Postgraduate courses after MBBS are of three years duration. Due to non-admission in the first year, there is a shortage of 3% doctors.

Regarding OBC and EWS quotas, the federation said the decision of the three-member committee constituted by the Center was appropriate. It may be mentioned that this committee has stated that 8% OBC and 10% EWS reserves should be implemented from next year.
