London: The Omicron variant has caused a stir around the world. While the health system in the US has been hit hard, governments have been in a quandary as the number of cases of omicron continues to rise in Britain, Italy and France.

Omikron's roar caused New Year's celebrations to fade around the world, and the cancellation of flights to all countries added to the plight of tourists. Russia and South Africa have seen a slight improvement in the situation, but the death toll in Russia is still worrying.

In the US, 78 per cent of ICU beds are filled due to a large increase in Omicron cases. More than 2.2 million new cases of corona were reported in the United States last week, according to CDC figures. The total number of cases is close to 54 crore while the total death toll in Koro is set to reach eight and a half lakh.

In Florida alone, more than 75,000 cases of corona are reported in a single day. 1409 people were killed in a single day in the US. In Britain, on Friday, 1,89,846 new cases of corona were reported and 203 died, while in Italy, on Friday, 1,44,243 new cases of corona were reported and 155 people died.

The total death toll from the Corona in Italy is 1,37,402. In France, President Emanuel Macro said 2,32,200 new cases of corona had been reported in the last 24 hours in France and that the next few weeks would be tough for the country. France is now the epicenter of the Corona epidemic in Europe.

Russia, on the other hand, has seen a decline in new cases of corona but no deaths. The total number of corona cases in Russia is 10,519,733, with 847 deaths in the last 24 hours. The massive spread of Omicron has had a devastating effect on the world's aviation industry. More than 2,400 flights were canceled worldwide on Friday. More than 1,100 flights had to be canceled in the US alone.

Public New Year celebrations have also been canceled in China. In the UK, meanwhile, 85 per cent of new Omicron patients were found not to have received a booster dose of the corona vaccine. The UK Health Security Agency released its weekly figures stating that 815 patients were admitted to the hospital for treatment out of which 608 patients were found not to have taken booster doses.

While a quarter of the patients did not take a single dose of corona vaccine. Statistics show that taking a booster dose of the corona vaccine reduces the risk of hospitalization due to an omikron infection by 88 percent. Taking two doses of the corona vaccine reduces the risk of hospitalization by 72% for six months. In Britain, 9.5 million people have not yet taken the booster dose.
