The marriage age of girls should be at least 21 years: Union Cabinet approves the resolution

- Yet the minimum age for marriage for girls was 18 years: This is what Modi said in his speech on Independence Day last year.

New Delhi: The minimum age for marriage for girls in India will soon be raised from 18 to 21. The proposal has been approved by the Union Cabinet. In fact, Prime Minister Modi said in his Independence Day speech last year that the proposal was being considered and reviewed.

He said in his speech that the government was concerned about the health of the daughters and sisters. To protect our daughters from malnutrition, it is imperative that they get married at the right age. It is a well known fact that at present the marriage age for girls is 18 years and for boys it is 21 years.

To implement this scheme, the government intends to amend the Child Marriage Act, the Special Marriage Act and the Hindu Marriage Act.

The Policy Commission formed a task force under the leadership of Jaya-Jaitley. He also endorsed these changes. Among the members of the task force formed in June last year were top experts, V.K. In addition to Paul, senior officials from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, and the Ministry of Law were members.

The task force submitted its views on the proposal in December this year. The task force emphasized the fact that a woman should be at least 21 years old at the time of her first pregnancy.

Observers also believe that if the marriage age limit for young women is raised from 18 to 21, it seems likely that the marriage age of young people will be raised from 21 to 6 years.
