India's defense exports cross Rs 2,000 crore in seven years

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh presented figures on the defense-aerospace industry at a conference. He claimed that in the last seven years, India's defense exports have crossed Rs 2,000 crore.
Addressing a conference of the Indian Defense Manufacturing Society, Rajnath Singh said that India's aerospace and defense sector is constantly evolving. The sector has now crossed Rs 7,000 crore, with the private sector accounting for Rs 15,000 crore.
The Defense Minister appealed to investors to invest more in this sector and said that India would create huge opportunities in this sector in the future. Citing an example, he said India has exported Rs 5,000 crore worth of defense equipment, including arms, in the last seven years.
He appealed to MSMEs to join the sector, saying that 15,000 MSME units have already joined the sector.
He said that earlier India was counted as the largest defense importer, but now India has gradually established itself as an exporter. In the next three-four years, i.e. during 205-6, India has set a target of an additional export of Rs 5,000 crore. He added that India has provided arms to the armies of seven countries. India is one of the top 7 defense exporting countries in the world.
