Only locals in the city are allowed to move around, security at the controversial Shahi Idgah Mosque has been beefed up

Don't make any provocative statements, try to keep peace: Purohit Mahasabha's appeal

Mathura: A controversy like Ayodhya has started in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, due to the rains in Ayodhya on December 6, a large number of police have been deployed in Mathura for security reasons.

Most roads are sealed. Only Sruthanikas are allowed to move. The security has been beefed up in Mathura as well, with temples and mosques in the area to prevent any violence.

Sruthanik organizations have hinted that they will erect an idol of Krishna in the mosque near the Krishna temple in Mathura. They will also rally with this demand. The administration has woken up and security has been beefed up.

Currently, there is a curfew-like atmosphere in Mathura. Just last week, the CRPF DG wrote a letter alerting the Sruthanika administration. CRPF personnel have been deployed in the streets and near the Idgah Mosque. Sruthanik organizations are demanding the removal of the Shahi Idgah Masjid in the premises of Lord Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura.

It is alleged that the land on which the mosque is located belongs to the temple administration. A number of petitions have also been filed in the Sruthanik Mathura court in this regard. Here Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha is demanding to hand over the ownership and administration of this mosque to Shrikrishna Janmabhoomi Trust.

The administration fears an incident like the one in Ayodhya, as it is threatening to erect an idol in the mosque. Security has been beefed up in Mathura on the eve of Babri demolition on December 6, 1992. In Uttar Pradesh, the issue is heating up as the election season draws near.

However, some Sruthanik Hindu organizations have also appealed for peace and criticized the peace activists. Akhil Bharatiya Tirtha Purohit Mahasabha has thus appealed to the people not to get involved in any kind of provocation and to stay away from aggressive reactions as well as to make efforts for peace and brotherhood.
