Lucknow: With the forthcoming Assembly elections, Uttar Pradesh's main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) has formed an alliance with Jayant Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), which has a strong foothold in western Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh also met your Uttar Pradesh in-charge Sanjay Singh. The SP has also announced compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the deceased farmers if it comes to power.

With the forthcoming elections, the movement in the political parties of Uttar Pradesh has intensified. Akhilesh Yadav has joined hands with Ajit Singh's son Jayant Chaudhary's Rashtriya Lok Dal, which has a strong foothold in western Uttar Pradesh, as it cannot fight the BJP alone. Following the alliance, the Rashtriya Lok Dal could contest 35 to 37 seats in western Uttar Pradesh.

The RLD had demanded 45 seats in the Assembly elections but Akhilesh was unwilling to give more than 25 seats. The two leaders have finally agreed on a meeting of around 35. The SP aims to shift the polarization of Jat and Muslim votes towards it in the elections. After the alliance with RLD, SP president Akhilesh held a meeting with AAP's Uttar Pradesh in-charge Sanjay Singh.

Sanjay Singh said after the meeting that there was a strategic discussion in the meeting and regarding the alliance with SP, he said that the discussion has just started. With the withdrawal of agricultural laws by the Prime Minister, the SP has also had to change its helm. Akhilesh had announced that if his party came to power, it would pay Rs 25 lakh to a farmer who died in the agitation.
