The son of former Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi is running for president

Cairo: The son of Libyan dictator Momal Gaddafi is set to run in next month's presidential election. Libya's election commission said today.

Saif al-Islam, the son of former President Moammar Gadhafi, presented his candidacy today, the election commission said in a statement.

In a video released from the election office, he said that the right path for the country is a show, it is Allah who will rest assured.

In fact, Gaddafi's government was overthrown in 2011 when Gaddafi's son was captured by militants. It is well known that Gaddafi ruled the country for 40 years. He was later killed in an uprising against Gaddafi in the country. But now his son is running for president. When Saif al-Islam arrived at the election commission office, he was dressed in traditional Libyan attire.

Saif al-Islam was also taken prisoner and released in June 2015 after more than five years.

In an interview with the New York Times, he said he would run for the country's top election. Although the ongoing infighting among the armed groups and some of the legal issues related to the election are challenging, but by the grace of Allah they will be able to overcome it all.

Of the seven children Gaddafi had, Mottastav was captured and killed along with Gaddafi at the time of his assassination. The other two, Saif al-Arab and Khamis, were killed earlier in the uprising against Gaddafi. One son, al-Saadi-Gaddafi, was captured. But he was released after 3 years. He had once fled to neighboring Niger, from where he was extradited to Libya but was eventually released.
