Islamabad: A report has revealed that key Taliban leaders in Afghanistan have studied in Pakistani madrassas. Current Taliban leaders have studied at a madrassa called Darul Alum Haqqania Madrassa, some of which hold senior positions in Afghanistan.

According to the report, madrassas in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are having a major impact in Afghanistan. Alumni of the madrassa have helped form the Taliban organization. Meanwhile, Taliban militants led by these leaders have also carried out several attacks. He also ruled Afghanistan in the 1990s.

The chancellor of the madrassa, Rashidul Haq Sami, told NYT that he has seen his ability to run the country through his victories on both the tactical front and the battlefield of the world.

The late Chancellor of the Seminary, Samiul Haq, who was assassinated at his residence in Islamabad in 2018 and who was Sami's husband, was considered the father of the Taliban. Madrasa Miraj: Azmat Abbas, author of A Contemporary History of Islamic Schools in Pakistan, said that Haqqanis definitely respect Taliban leaders for being their alma mater.
