More than 7000 villages in five states will get 4G mobile connectivity

New Delhi: A number of important decisions were taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Announcing the decision, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that mobile tower connectivity would be provided in more than 7000 villages in 44 districts of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Odisha.

A meeting of the Union Cabinet of the government has decided to provide 4G mobile services to these villages. A total of Rs 6466 crore will be spent on this project.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur said the government has decided to provide mobile tower facilities in 7266 villages in 44 districts of five states - Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Odisha. A total of Rs 6466 crore has been spent on this scheme.

Under another important decision, a total of 32,152 km of roads will be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Maoist-affected, tribal and inland areas. The project will cost a total of Rs 33,822 crore. These important decisions were taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Out of this expenditure of Rs 33,822 crore, Rs 22,978 crore will be provided by the Central Government. In addition, the term of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana 1 and 2 has been extended till September, 2022 following the demand of the Department of Rural Development of the Ministry of Rural Development.
