The Central Government has taken an important step in view of the ongoing killings of civilians by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, the Home Ministry has decided to send five additional CRPF companies to Jammu and Kashmir. This will bring the total number of security forces companies in the state to 55.

So far, 25 BSF and 25 CRPF companies have been deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, according to senior officials. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting on security issues chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah. Amit Shah visited Jammu and Kashmir in late October. This was Shah's first visit to the state since Article 370 was abolished.

The CRPF has decided to deploy 5 companies after 2 murders, including a policeman, were committed by terrorists in the last 48 hours. The deployment will be completed in a week. That means a further 7500 troops will be deployed who will play a key role in operations against terrorists.

Fifteen civilians have been killed in the valley since October. It also includes some non-Kashmiri youth. There has been an increase in target killings by pistols in recent times. As a result, most of the troops will be deployed in Srinagar where more cases of killing of civilians have come to light. Apart from that, checking and search operations in the valley have also been increased. 15,000 people and 8,000 vehicles are being checked daily in Srinagar. In the meantime, all techniques including CCTV, drones are also being resorted to.
