In Chhattisgarh, the Naxals assassinated the husband of a sarpanch who helped in development work

In Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, Naxals have killed the sarpanch's husband for supporting development, a police official said in a statement. According to sources, the sarpanch's husband had an active role in the development work.

According to the police official, the incident took place in Karmari village of Narayanpura district. In addition to killing the sarpanch's husband, the Naxals also set fire to a JCB machine working on the road.

According to police, a banner was found outside the village stating that he had been punished for playing an active role in the construction work despite repeated warnings.

According to Narayanpur Superintendent Girja Shankar Jaiswal, Birju Salam, a resident of Karmari village, was helping the authorities in the development work. He was the husband of Fuldevi Salam, Sarpanch of the village. Narayanpur district is located at a distance of 200 km from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh.

According to Jaiswal, the murder took place in front of the residents of Birjuni village. He set fire to the JCB machine after the killing and then fled. This village is located 21 kilometers away from Narayanpur.

In Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, a goods train derailed after the Naxals derailed the train. According to authorities, 18 coaches and three locomotives fell off the tracks as the Naxals removed the tracks.
