New Delhi: Two major encounters were conducted by the Army in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. A total of five militants, including a TRF commander, were killed. Among those killed was Afaq Sikandar, commander of The Resistance Force (TRF).

During the search operation, the militants opened fire on the army, which led to a confrontation between the two. Meanwhile, a grenade attack in Baramulla injured two CRPF personnel and two civilians.

The grenade attack took place at 11.15am. However, no information has been received as to which terrorist organization carried out the attack and an investigation is underway to trace the attackers.

On the other hand, two Toiba militants were arrested by the Army in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The arrested terrorists include Aamir Bashir and Mukhtar Button. The arrested terrorists were plotting to carry out a major attack.

Large quantities of weapons and explosives were also seized. These include two ready-to-use IEDs. The entire case is currently under further investigation, police said.

Police arrested three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants on the Jammu and Kashmir Highway with Rs 43 lakh in cash. The terrorists were apprehended during a search operation on Tuesday night. Among those arrested were Fayaz Umar and Muzim.
