Every ruler should introspect his own vices: CJI

Chief Justice Raman's advice to the rulers

The people of the country are paramount, governments should take decisions in the interest of the people: Chief Justice

New Delhi: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court NV Ramanna has said that the rulers should introspect on a daily basis to see if the decisions taken by them are good. He should also check that there is nothing wrong with them. The statement was made by the Chief Justice while speaking at the 40th Graduation Ceremony of an educational institute at Puttuparthi in Anantapurmu district of Andhra Pradesh.

Referring to the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, Chief Justice NV Ramanna said that it depicts the 14 vices of the king. Rulers should avoid these vices. The CJI said that in a democratic system every ruler should do a self-analysis before starting his regular work to see if there is anything wrong with him. Democracy needs proper governance and it should be in line with the needs of the people.

Addressing the graduation ceremony, the Chief Justice said that there are many intelligent people here. And he is watching what is happening in the world as well as across the country. In a democracy, the people are paramount, the people should get the benefits of whatever decisions are taken by the government.

I want the whole system of the country to be independent and honest. The purpose of which should be to serve the public. The modern teaching method is aimed only at utilitarian functions. This method does not engage the students in moral as well as spiritual activities. Which builds the character of the students.
