Every fourth Indian faces discrimination on the basis of caste, religion

(PTI) New Delhi, Ta. 3
One in four Indian castes in the country face discrimination in the field of healthcare on the basis of religion, a report claims. According to the report, this discrimination is taking place in health professionals or hospitals.
Oxfam India, based on a rapid survey on the challenges facing corona vaccination campaigns in India, claims that 5 per cent of those surveyed said they could not get vaccinated because they missed the vaccine when they went to vaccination centers, while 15 per cent said they did not. They could not afford to get vaccinated due to high prices. Nine per cent said they had lost a day's allowance to get vaccinated, according to a report by Securing Rights of Patients in India.
The NGO said it had conducted the survey on patients in two parts on some provisions of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the issue of patients' rights against India's vaccination campaign. The first part of the survey was conducted by 6,050 people between February and April in nine states and five union territories and the second part by 10,6 people between August and September. According to Oxfam India's survey, one in four Indians in a country of more than 150 million people is discriminated against in health services because of their race or religion.
