Srinagar: With the temperature dropping, Srinagar has recorded the coldest nights of the season. Temperatures in Srinagar, Pahalgam, Kupwada and Kazikund were recorded at two to zero degrees Celsius as the mercury began to drop in Jammu and Kashmir. In some places, the temperature had reached minus.

Pahalgam, the base camp of the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded a low of -3.4 degrees Celsius. With such low temperatures, Pahalgam became the coldest place in Kashmir. Kupwada in north Kashmir also recorded a low of minus 0.9 degrees Celsius.

Srinagar recorded a low of 0.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday night. Srinagar has the lowest ever temperature of the current season. The temperature was recorded at Qazigund, the gateway to the Kashmir Valley. Kokarnag recorded a low of 1.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday night.

The temperature at Gulmahor resort in Baramulla district was recorded at 0.6 degree Celsius. In the Kashmir Valley, winter has started earlier this time and winter usually gets harsher and more severe in December. Instead, this time a month ago, the winter has become more severe.

In addition, heavy rains have been warned for the next five days in some parts of the country. The meteorological department has also warned of fog in Delhi-NCR. Heavy rains are expected at various places in Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puducherry and Karnataka during the next five days. Fog is also expected in some parts of Delhi-NCR.
