After Mahavira Swami's 'Kala-Dharma', Magadheshwar Bimbisara said: Today the great lamp has gone out. Let us light a lamp in his memory

- Why is the gift of the best called 'sacrifice'?

- That day was Aso Vadi0)). As the lamps are lit, it is called 'Dipotsavi'. Another 'opinion' is that:

We survey Dipotsavi every year. But we have not lost sight of its historical background role. Lord Mahavira Swami (6-7 BC) passed away. That day was Ashwin Krishna's) (Amavasya). At that time Magadha was ruled by Bimbisara. He was not a Jain, yet was becoming a devotee of Lord Mahavira Swami. They were saddened by the time-religion of Mahavira Swami. They declared: 'Today a great lamp has vanished. Let us light a lamp in his memory. Probably: From that day (Aso Wadi Amavasya) Dipotsav is celebrated. Coincidentally, 'Vak-Dvadashi', similar to the adoration of Vagishwari, is celebrated on the day of Dvadash before that day. We incorrectly call Vak-Dvadashi 'Wagh-Barash'. After that, we celebrate Dhan-Triodashi, the day of worship of Lakshmiji and the manifestation of Dhanvantari, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. When we celebrate Mahakala and Mahakali adoration day Kali Chaudhash.

The question is, it is natural to have a sweet meal with the adoration of Maha Saraswati, Mahalakshmi and Mother Mahakali. But if Mahavira Swami gets 'Kaladharma' on the days of Amavasya, then why sweet food is done even on those days? So the answer is that: Mahavira Swami actually spoke of renunciation of worldly substances. As a result, they became 'free' from the world on that day, so that day is considered not a day of mourning but of joy.

This is according to the Jain tradition: Now let's look at the story of the Brahmanical Puranas: According to that story, the Lord assumed the form of a dwarf and begged before the 'Demon-Raj' sacrifice. Bali said, "What do you want, Batuk Taare?" At that time, Lord Vishnu, who was in the form of a dwarf, asked for only three steps of the earth. Bali said: I will give. Then the dwarf god created his own gigantic form. In two coats, they took all three, heaven and death and the abyss. Then he said: Where to put the third step? So Bali put his head under the feet of God. The Lord put his foot on his head and pushed him into the 'abyss' but at the same time said' Bali, this was done to test you. You did not hesitate to donate. You also carried your Uttamang (head). I will give you a place in Vaikuntha. Not only that, but you also carried your Uttamang (head). So the best donation in the world will henceforth be called 'Sacrifice'.

That day was also of Aso Vadi0)) (Amavasya). Even the gods could not win that day. Such a powerful demon Raj was equally 'able' to donate. He also gave his best. So in honor of the sacrifice on that day, lamps are lit in every house. Even on that day Ashwin Krishna was 0)) (Aso Vadi Amas). Deep-Utsav was celebrated that day. This is also how Aso Wadi Amas is celebrated in India as 'Dipotsavi'. Which is the day of the new moon after 'Vak-Dvadashi' (Tiger Rain), Dhan-Triodashi (Dhanteras) and Kalika-Chaturdashi (Black Fourteen).
