3 lakh children malnourished in India: Government responds to RTI



3 lakh children in India are suffering from malnutrition. This report has been given by the Central Government. The figures released by the government in response to an RTI are shocking. Out of 3 lakh children, 12.5 lakh children are severely malnourished. The figures were provided by the Department of Women and Child Welfare.
According to the official statistics of the Department of Women and Child Development, 2,6,8 children in the country are suffering from malnutrition. This figure was obtained on the basis of the app. A central government official said that out of 2.19 crore children associated with Anganwadi, 3 lakh are malnourished. This means that out of the total number of children coming to Anganwadi, 4.09 per cent are malnourished.
The Department of Women and Child Welfare in RTI was asked how many children were malnourished during the Koro epidemic. In response, according to figures released by the government, 12,8,304 children are suffering from severe malnutrition. According to government figures, 12,9,20 children fall under the definition of malnutrition.
There has been a worrying increase in the rate of malnutrition between November 2020 and October 15, 2021. However, statistics are obtained in two ways. Last year, data on children aged six months to six years was obtained through the app. On the other hand, data is also obtained through Anganwadi.
Maharashtra, Bihar and Gujarat have the highest number of malnourished children. In Maharashtra alone, 2.15 lakh children have become victims of malnutrition. 4.5 lakh children are malnourished in Bihar. The report said that 2.50 lakh children were suffering from malnutrition in Gujarat.
India was also ranked 101st in the Global Hunger Index. In this index of 114 countries, India's position deteriorated in a single year. India was ranked 9th in 2030, pushed to 101st in 2021. According to the 2011 census, there were 30 million children in India. Millions of these children are malnourished.
