We will abide by the deportation order of Rohingya: Karnataka

Karnataka government overturned in Supreme Court

Earlier, the Karnataka government had said it had no plans to deport Rohingyas from the state

New Delhi: The BJP-led Karnataka government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on the deportation of Rohingyas. And reversed his earlier statement. Now it has been said that Karnataka State Police has not kept Rohingyas in any camp or center in its jurisdiction.

However, according to a report, 126 Rohingyas have been identified in Karnataka. In an earlier written reply, the state government had said that the Bengaluru City Police had not kept the Rohingya anywhere here.

As stated earlier, we have no plans to deport any Rohingya who are here. At the same time, the Karnataka government has said that we will abide by any order for deportation of Rohingya. The court had sought a reply to a public interest litigation filed by BJP leader and lawyer Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay.

Upadhyay had demanded in the high court that any Rohingya living illegally in India should be deported on an immediate basis. Following which, the court sought an answer from the Karnataka government on the whole matter. In response, the Karnataka government is now claiming that Rohingyas were not kept in any of the camps under our jurisdiction.
