Kolkata, Ta. 13

Six months after the Assembly elections in West Bengal, political violence is not going away. Now a case has come up against the shooting death of Mithun Ghosh, a BJP worker in North Dinajpur district.

So far Ghosh's killers have not been identified but the BJP has directly blamed the Trinamool Congress for the killings. Ghosh was shot dead by some unidentified persons outside his house in his village Rajgram.

The BJP has alleged that the incident was carried out by chaotic elements of the Trinamool Congress. However, Mamata Banerjee's party has denied the allegations. Leader of State Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari has also lashed out at TAMC over the incident.

Shubhendu said on Twitter that BJP Youth Front leader Mithun Ghosh was shot dead in Itahar. This is the function of TMC. The incident took place late Sunday night around 11 p.m. At that time Mithun Ghosh was standing outside his house in the village. The two assailants on a motorcycle shot at them very closely. He died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was taken to hospital immediately after the attack. Where doctors pronounced him dead. BJP's North Dinajpur district president Vasudev Sarkar said Mithun Ghosh was the party's youth wing secretary in the district. His home was in Rajgram village of Itahar assembly constituency. He had received several threats on the phone before. We lodged a complaint with the police but no action was taken.

On the other hand, Itahar Trinamool MLA Musharraf Hussain has said that we have nothing to do with this incident. Hussein said Ghosh was attacked at night. The Trinamool Congress does not believe in the politics of assassination. The Chief Minister has ordered us to maintain peace and harmony in the state.
