Marginalized BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Saturday shared a video clip on social media of a farmer setting his crop on fire after failing to sell it. With this, Varun Gandhi demanded the Central Government to reconsider the issue of agricultural policy.
"If we cannot protect the food donors who provide us with food, it is our failure as a nation," said Varun Gandhi. He shared a video of a man on Twitter. The BJP MP said that Samodh Singh, a farmer from Uttar Pradesh, has been pushing the market for the last 15 days to sell his paddy crop. But when he can't sell the paddy crop, he gets frustrated and burns the standing crop on his own. We need to think about our agricultural policies.Shri Samodh Singh, a farmer from Uttar Pradesh, had been fighting in the mandis for the last 15 days to sell his paddy crop. When the paddy was not sold, he got frustrated and set it on fire.

Where has this system brought the farmers? Rethinking agricultural policy is the greatest need of today. pic.twitter.com/z3EjYw9rIz
Varun Gandhi added that there could be no greater punishment for a farmer than setting fire to his own crops. We need to introspect on the system that pushes farmers into the abyss of despair even though it is not their own fault. If we cannot protect the breadwinner who provides us with food, it is our failure as a nation. Varun Gandhi has been opposing the central government on the issue of agricultural policies for some time now and is also supporting the farmers who are agitating against the three new agricultural laws.
