There is no law to prevent minors from becoming hermits

The Karnataka High Court has said that no law or constitution prevents a minor from becoming a hermit. Aniruddha Sarlathya, a minor, was chosen as the president of Shri Shirur Math of Uddapi, an application was filed in the High Court against this selection which has been rejected. A bench of High Court Judge Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sachin Shankar said Aniruddha was less than 18 years of age and had been appointed president of the monastery.

No law or constitution prevents a minor from becoming a hermit or a monastery president. At the same time, the High Court said that our job is not to write religious lessons. However we resolve religious disputes. The High Court gave the example of Buddhism and said that in Buddhism children were also made monks.
