The straw fire in Punjab-Haryana appeared in NASA satellite images

- Pollution will increase in North India, NASA issued a red alert

- Straw burning is likely to be higher this year, pollution could have a negative impact in Delhi

New Delhi: Like every year, straw is being burnt by farmers in Punjab and Haryana. Images of straw burning have also been released by NASA satellites. These pictures show straw burning not only in Punjab and Haryana but also in Pakistan. Scientists have warned that more straw could be burned in northern India this time than before. As the return of monsoon in these areas has been delayed.

NASA's fire map has revealed that straw burning has already started in parts of Haryana, Punjab and Pakistan. The fire map showed these areas as a red alert. However, the map also claims that relief is being seen in these areas as evening falls. Scientists say there has been some relief from clouds in the sky as well as rain.

The cities in Punjab and Haryana that were included in the red alert areas on Monday include districts like Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Faridabad. In Pakistan, straw burning was seen around Lahore, Faizabad, Gujranwala and Sargodha. If we look at NASA's data map, we will see that between September 1 and October 1, the incidence of straw burning in Punjab and Haryana has increased rapidly.

Scientists warn that the delay in the monsoon this time is having an impact on pollution. The monsoon is coming to an end in many areas from October 6. Farmers have very little time. Currently, farmers have started burning straw. And if it increases in the coming days, the level of pollution in Delhi may increase.
