The Congress delegation is scheduled to meet President Ramnath Kovind tomorrow (Wednesday 19th). He is also discussing the Lakhimpur Kheri incident with them. The delegates will also present a memorandum to the President, outlining the facts of the incident.

The delegation includes former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, current general secretary Priyanka Vadra and A.K. Antony, Mallikarjun Kharge, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary and K.C. Venugopal will remain.

The Congress has already sent a letter demanding a visit to the President. "The massacre of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh has shocked the hearts of the entire nation," it said. So even more tragic is the open threat from Union Home Minister Ajay Mishra and the farmers who have been crushed by the 'Thar-Jeep' motor owned by the minister and his family. Other farmers who witnessed the incident have openly said that it was the jeep driven by the minister's son that crushed them. No action has been taken against the accused or the minister so far, despite protests from all quarters and the Supreme Court saying so.

The Congress said it wanted to give a detailed "memorandum" to the President regarding the incident and would also discuss it.
