Talks with Tehreek-e-Taliban may bear fruit, but nothing is certain: Imran Khan

- Controversy is brewing with the statements of the Information Minister of Pakistan justifying these statements.

During talks with some groups in the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Prime Minister Imran Khan told them to lay down their arms and pardon him if he agreed to abide by Pakistan's constitution.

Imran Khan's statements have sparked controversy, with Pakistan's Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry defending him.

In an interview with a Turkish news channel on Friday, Imran Khan said the Pakistani government was in talks with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TIP) and asked them to lay down their arms and abide by Pakistan's constitution. The government of Pakistan is also ready to pardon them if they do so. There are also some groups of Taliban who want peace and want to negotiate with our government. So we are negotiating with them. This is a normal process and nothing can be gained from this negotiation but nothing can be said definitively at this stage.

Defending Imran Khan's remarks, Pakistan's Information Minister Fouad Chaudhry said: Pakistan has gone through rivers of blood and flames of fire. It has sacrificed thousands of lives and defeated terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. On the other hand, it has defeated India, which has run dangerous conspiracies over others. Thus, on the one hand, we have defeated the terrorist groups and on the other hand, we have also defeated the conspirators. Therefore, the Prime Minister's statement is correct.

This statement of Fawad Chaudhry is becoming controversial because Imran Khan's statement has indirectly given acceptance to the Taliban and Chaudhry's statement justifying that acceptance has created a whirlwind of controversy.
