President Biden will speed up the process of issuing green cards: White House

Waiting for a green card will benefit thousands of Indians

Long wait as seven per cent green cards are issued to citizens of any one country in a year

WASHINGTON: The White House has said that Indian citizens who have been waiting for a green card for years will be relieved. An official White House statement said President Joe Biden is serious about speeding up the green card process and will make an important decision soon.

White House Press Secretary Jane Sackie said in response to a question that President Biden would take steps to address the current obstacles to issuing green cards. President Biden is committed to accelerating the greencard system. Thousands of Indians will benefit if Biden speeds up the green card system. Many Indians have been waiting for a green card for years.

Currently, the US system is such that the citizens of a country get a maximum of seven percent green card in a year. This means that seven per cent of the citizens of Indian descent are waiting for a green card. The rest have to wait again. A bill was also introduced in the US Congress to abolish the quota system and implement a new system instead.

If the bill is passed in the near future, the years of waiting for many Indian citizens to get green cards will come to an end. There are also fears that as many as 83,000 green cards will be lost due to delays in US citizen and immigration services. The White House press secretary was also questioned. He said the government would soon take appropriate action.
