The Supreme Court has said that no state can refuse to pay compensation of Rs 50,000 to the families of those killed by the corona. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had recommended compensation of Rs 50,000 to the families of those killed in the corona.

The apex court on Monday directed the state governments to abide by the Centre's guidelines to pay Rs 50,000 to the families of those killed in the corona and pay the compensation within 30 days of the request for compensation.

The Supreme Court has also asked the government to publicize the scheme. A bench headed by Justice MR Shah said that no state government could refuse to pay compensation if the death certificate did not state that the death was due to corona.

District officials should certify that Corona died on the basis of evidence such as RTPCR. The court further said that those who did not write death in the death certificate of Corona could have their death certificate amended by presenting proper evidence to their families.
