Nationwide demonstrations against the Center on the 8th of the Indian Trade Union Confederation

New Delhi, Dt
One more agitation is now emerging on the issue of disinvestment against the central government, which has been facing a peasant agitation against agricultural laws in the country for almost a year. The central government, which has already faced strong opposition from the opposition on the issue of privatization of government units, is now facing opposition from the RSS as well. The Indian Trade Union Confederation, affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has announced nationwide protests on October 9 against the central government's disinvestment policy. BMS has appealed to other organizations to join the demonstrations.
Girish Chandra Arya, All India Secretary, Labor Union of India (BMS), said that the BMS Coordinating Committee has decided to oppose the government's decision to privatize public sector entities. All trade unions with an identity for the movement should strongly oppose the government's policy, but they have chosen to remain silent. In such a situation we have decided to hold a nationwide picket.
"We don't care which party is in power," he said. Our attitude towards the public sector should remain the same. The government should keep in mind that the public sector pays very good dividends. He also questioned why the central government was selling these units.
Arya said he has invited people from the steel, power, telecom, bank and insurance sectors, including NHPL, BSNL and BHEL, to join the picket. He said the government has failed on the disinvestment front. The government has also failed on the privatization front. The government is working with the help of economists who are promoting these measures. Such economists know nothing about this country. Our Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman herself says that the government is not selling units.
Presenting the budget for FY 2021-2 to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram on February 1, he said the government has approved a policy of strategic disinvestment of public sector enterprises, all of which will provide for disinvestment in non-strategic and strategic sectors.
Significantly, while the central government has not been able to address the farmers' agitation for the last one year, its allies have now spoken out against the BJP government and opposed its disinvestment policy.
