Meetings with European leaders on global issues, including trade and Corona, have been very productive in strengthening the economy and people-to-people contacts with a view to making the world a better place, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. Arriving in Rome to attend the G20 summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted enthusiastically by local Indians saying, "How are you, Narendrabhai?" In Rome, PM Modi held his first official meeting with EU leaders.
After arriving in Rome, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a joint meeting with Charles Mitchell, President of the European Council, and Ursula van der Leyen, President of the European Commission. After the meeting, the Prime Minister's Office tweeted that the official program in Rome began with meaningful talks with European Council President Charles Mitchell and European Commission President Van der Leyen. In this meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen economic and people-to-people contacts with a view to making the earth better.
Later, Prime Minister Modi described the talks with EU leaders during the 15th G20 summit as productive. Prime Minister Modi tweeted that talks were held with EU leaders to strengthen India-EU relations on issues such as trade, commerce, culture and environment, which were very productive.
In a tweet, European Council President Michelle Charles said India could play a key role in greening the planet. We discussed issues such as the health of the planet and measures to combat the Koro epidemic, strengthening the India-EU strategic partnership, the situation in Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific region. European Commission President Van Der also praised the meeting with the Prime Minister. He thanked India for achieving ‘extraordinary achievements’ on vaccination and resuming export of corona vaccine to the world.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Rome to attend the G20 summit, was given a warm welcome by local Indians. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi in 'Piyaja Gandhi'. In Rome, Indians greeted Modi with mantras in Sanskrit. In addition, many Indians chanted 'Modi-Modi'. When a person asked the PM, "Why are you, Narendra Bhai?", Modi replied with a smile, "I'm having fun."
