India ranks 21st in the global food security index, behind China



India was ranked 31st in the Global Food Security Index. The study said Pakistan and Sri Lanka were in a better position than India. Countries like India-Pakistan-Sri Lanka-Bangladesh lagged behind in the index.
The index was compiled in 115 countries according to nutritional and quality criteria. India was ranked 21st in the index, compiled by the UK-based Economist Impact. India’s neighbors were also in the order around India on this issue. Pakistan was ranked 7th, Sri Lanka 8th, Nepal 9th ​​and Bangladesh 9th.
The best position in this index was of countries like Ireland, Australia, Britain, Finland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Japan, France America. The problem of malnutrition was very low in these countries and the standards of food quality were also maintained high.
The Economist Impact report says good work has been done on food security over the past decade. Food security has improved and the fight against hunger has also become more effective. Efforts to reduce hunger at local, national and international levels were appreciated.
The Economist Impact said that significant efforts have been made in India over the last one and a half decades. However, the report noted that Pakistan and Sri Lanka needed to make more efforts.
