Government's Diwali gift to central employees-pensioners: 3% increase in DA

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has decided to increase the DA of central employees and pensioners by three per cent. The decision by the Union Cabinet will benefit 2.15 lakh central government employees and 7.5 lakh pensioners. This information was given by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur.

This decision of the government has resulted in an annual increase of Rs. There will be a burden of Rs 5 crore.

Earlier in July, the government had removed the brake on the increase in DA (inflation allowance) and decided to increase the DA from 12 per cent to 5 per cent.

It may be mentioned that in view of the Koro epidemic, the central government did not increase the DA on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021.

The Modi government has given Diwali gifts to central employees. In a meeting of the Union Cabinet, it was decided to increase the DA of Central employees and DR of pensioners. DA has been increased from 5 per cent to 21 per cent. From July 2021, 51% DA will be paid.

It may be mentioned that the DA of government employees is increased twice a year in January and July. Earlier in July, the central government had announced three pending additions to the DA and announced that from July 1, 2021, the DA would be paid 5 per cent instead of 15 per cent. That is a simultaneous 11 per cent increase in DA. Now that the government has announced a further three per cent increase in DA from July 1, 2021, the three per cent increase in DA for July, August and September will be paid in arrears.
