G20: Global leaders agree to increase corona vaccine production for poorer countries

Rome, Ta. 20
India is ready to produce more than 200 crore doses of corona vaccine by the year 2030, which will help the world in the fight against corona epidemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the G20 summit on Saturday. At the 18th G20 summit in Rome, world leaders agreed to increase corona vaccine production for poor countries. In addition, global leaders have agreed to reduce global warming by 1.5 degrees in the fight against climate change.
"We have to redouble our efforts to bring the corona vaccine to the world's poorest countries," said Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi. In rich countries, 80 per cent of the population has been vaccinated, while in poor countries, only 4 per cent of the population has been vaccinated against corona. This is unethical. In this context, all the world leaders agreed to increase the production of corona vaccine for poor countries.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programs in Rome, Foreign Secretary Harshvardhan Sringala said that Prime Minister Modi had stressed on the need to set up a mechanism to facilitate international travel and give mutual recognition to vaccination certification. Raising the issue of WHO approval for emergency use of covacin, Prime Minister Modi said that hooni approval for India's indigenous vaccine is pending. He said the approval of Kovexin would also help other countries in the fight against Corona.
Modi further highlighted India's contribution to India's medical supply to more than 150 countries and its contribution to maintaining a global supply chain during the Corona epidemic. Shringala said the Prime Minister made the statement during the 'Global Economy and Global Health' session. Stressing on the need for a strong global supply chain to fight the Corona, Prime Minister Modi also spoke about India's adventurous economic reforms and invited the G20 nations to be India's partners in the global economic recovery. PM Modi also raised future global health issues in the context of the vision of 'One Earth, One Health'.
