Cookie extremists fire on crowd in Manipur: Five killed

Imphal: Cookie militants opened fire on a crowd in the village of B Gumnom in Kangpokpi on Tuesday. The Cookie militants attacked just as the funeral of the two militants, who were actually killed by security forces, was taking place.

IG Lupsingh told Kings that five people have been killed in the firing incident. The bodies of three have been found in it. An investigation is underway. One child was injured in the firing and has been admitted to hospital for treatment. The villagers have been hiding in safe places since the firing incident.

Central security forces are investigating the attackers. Chief Minister N Birensingh has condemned the attack. Just two days ago, security forces killed four militants in Hingorani in Manipur. This success was achieved in a joint operation of the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army.

In fact, last month the National Investigation Agency (NIA) nabbed the outlawed cookie terrorist group UKLF on charges of smuggling weapons and carrying out illegal activities against the country. Lukhosan Haokip, the self-appointed head of the United Cookie Liberation Front (UKLF), is absconding. He was accused of stealing weapons from the Assam Rifles.
