Accused arrested for killing Indian-origin businessman by shooting with intent to rob

New Jersey: Srirang Aravapalli, CEO of an Indian-origin pharma company in the US, was shot dead by a robber. Police have arrested the accused after the murder.

Srirang Aravapalli, CEO of an Indian-origin pharma company based in New Jersey, USA, was returning home late at night when a robber chased him for 80 km and eventually shot him dead in an attempt to rob him.

A preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the robber also broke in through the back door when he reached Aravapalli's house at night. He was shot while trying to rob. The accused fled after the shooting.

The family members rushed Aravapalli to the hospital, where he died. Indian-Americans living in New Jersey were outraged after the sensational incident. Police arrested 27-year-old accused Jackie Reid John.

According to police, the accused did not know Srirang Aravapalli, but he chased the car from his appearance. After the incident, the state police chief expressed grief and said that strict action would be taken against the accused. This event is an eye opener not only for New Jersey, but for the whole country.
