New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has ordered the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) to pay Rs 50 lakh to its employees for illegally dismissing them.

This employee had been pushing for the last few years. Raj Singh, who was hired as a driver in the 80s, will also be paid a pension of Rs 19,900 per month. According to the petitioner, he was illegally terminated and then he went to the Labor Court.

Singh said in his application that in December 1988, the Labor Court had also admitted that he had been illegally dismissed. The Labor Court order was challenged before various authorities. Finally, the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by AIIMS was rejected by the Supreme Court on June 3, 2016.

The petitioner sent legal notices to various authorities on behalf of advocate BT Kaul asking them to pay the amount but the AIIMS did not pay the amount. The petitioner then applied to the High Court.

High Court Justice Pratibha M Singh had ordered to pay Rs 50,49,079 as salary from December 4, 1998 to October 31, 2016. He has also been ordered to pay a pension of Rs 19,900 per month.
